SPOTTED: OUR BRITISH FLOWERS WEEK DISPLAYS

It’s no secret how much florists adore this time of year, as a wealth of gorgeous summer flowers emerge. British blooms, in particular, take centre-stage - whether its plooms of delicate meadow darlings or statement blousy heroes. Returning for its 9th year to celebrate this special moment in the floral calendar iBritish Flowers Week (14 - 20 June) - a campaign masterminded by Covent Garden Flower Market. The McQueens Flowers team have relished using these locally grown stems from our trusted suppliers - and to coincide with the celebration of BFW, we share just a few of our breathtaking displays filled with these specimens.

Corinthia

Sitting pretty below the breathtaking Baccarat chandelier in the lobby of the spectacular Corinthia hotel, McQueens Flowers have the honour of creating equally spell-binding weekly floral displays. Lead Floral Creative for Corinthia, Fiona Christensen shares her design inspiration:

“This week's design was inspired by a countryside meadow spilling out for summer. We took a more rustic approach with our choice of vessel to compliment the wild garden style of British flowers, selecting a variety of beautiful wooden vases and crates. Along with this is a planted meadow of daisies and lavender which give the illusion of a wild common footpath among the daisies. We used a selection of flowers that are blooming currently in Britain and are locally found. And of course, we used our trusted local suppliers, who have sourced these gems from local growers as well. “

The bounty of beautiful ingredients on display include; Foxgloves, Alliums, Larkspur, Tanacetum and Sweetpeas amongst many other garden gems.

Mandarin Oriental
McQueens Flowers have had the honour of creating show-stopping flowers for Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park for the past four years. Lead Floral Creative, Georgina Bastick and her team carefully plan new designs for the hotel’s public spaces, which change each week - reflecting seasons and celebrations. June is no different and as British flowers come into bloom the team have crafted an ode to some special varieties. Taking centre-stage is the hotel's grand marble fireplace that has been immersed in a wave of Beech foliage, Chamomile, Pink Lisianthus and Cerise Larkspur.
