MCQUEENS KOREA: AN INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE
Following the fantastic success of our pop up school in Korea last year we are very excited to announce an expansion of the McQueens family with a permanent home for our first international school in Seoul. McQueens has always enjoyed a very special relationship with flower lovers from Korea. That relationship spans over 25 years since and became apparent when McQueens Flower School was founded and we had the wonderful pleasure of welcoming students from all over the world, many whom travelled from Korea, inspired by our approach and passion for flowers.
The school in Korea has a packed curriculum of creative course and welcomes students of all abilities.
'We have modified our London curriculum to suit the Korean market.' explains McQueens senior tutor Zibi Zareba who is based in Korea for the next year. 'It was very important for us that our school based in Seoul has synergy with our London school and upholds the same design principles and style of design. We have created a curriculum that has something for everyone from classes aimed at beginners or hobbyists, through to classes that the focus on more advanced techniques. I am very excited to welcome students to McQueens Korea and to share our passion for flowers with a wider audience."
Our new school is based in the creative hub of Gangnam-gu and is prominently positioned with huge windows and an outside terrace area that is perfect for creating projects to dress the exterior of the building. It's the perfect location for our first international school. Dong Min Kim, Head Florist at McQueens Korea explains -
"We always knew that McQueens Korea would be based in the Chungdam Dong area and we looked at several locations before settling on this as our new home. Chungdam Dong is a very prestigious area, the main street near our school is called " Chungdam Dong Luxury Street" because many luxury brand's flagship stores are located on this street, which is similar to Bond St in London. Our new neighbours include Carolina Herera, Chanel, Burberry, Prada and many more luxury brands. As well as revered designers the area is also renowned for beautiful homes, excellent schools and famous studios (which means lots of celebrities live in and visit the neighbourhood! This is a very exciting time for us in Seoul."
Speaking on the new curriculum, Dong Min Kim shares "We have enjoyed working closely with our colleagues in London to ensure that our classes are planned in line with standards that have McQueens has become so well known for. I have had a relationship with McQueens for over ten years and I am very excited to be working alongside one of McQueens most senior florists, Zibi who is now based in Seoul and working with us full time. Its been very exciting to welcome students to a series of preview classes to celebrate the launch of our school. We have had amazing comments from participants to our classes and look forward to welcoming students to the start of our new classes."
